I did it!

Someone told me that putting music on their blog was really hard. It wasn't! I just did the same thing I did when I added a cute border. I am going to try to change my music often but we will see. I like a lot of different kinds of music so hopefully I can find it on this website to share here! Pink is one of my favorite singers but I must admit she is a bit irreverent- kind of like me at times!! ENJOY!

Neighbor gifts

Bobby has started a new traditon in our family. Last year he started and I think it will continue on. I love it because it is his thing and it helps him be part of all the fun. Another reason I love it is because it reminds me a little of what his parents do for neighbor gifts. When Bobby was growing up his mom made her famous sourdough bread with the knots on top and delivered it to everyone. I even got hot loaves delivered to me when we were dating. (He has a very smart mother!!) Anyway, this cookie recipe is his mother's recipe and now it is our tradition to make them and give them out to the neighbors. Last year Bobby gave them to his Friend John that he carpools with. Bobby took them our Christmas card this year and John's wife asked if he was making the cookies and asked if she could buy extra. That made Bobby feel really good. He make them 6 dozen, we hope that was enough!!!

I special soaps and sanitizers this year. I printed words on transparencies and put them inside. I can't show all the ones I made because I have either given them away or I don't want to ruin the surprise but I think they turned out very cute. Everyone turned out different thanks to the wordle.net website and thanks to Dana for introducing me to it. I posted the picture of the one I made for our family.

Christmas 2009

I LOVE CHRISTMAS TIME! I love all the days before Christmas even more than the actual day.

Here is a list of everything I love about Christmas:

Hot Cocoa

Lights on Houses

Snow and snowmans

Christmas music

Christmas trees and their ornaments

SHOPPING (of course)!!!!! (especially black friday)

Wrapping presents

Stockings

Parties

Christmas treats

Good food

Jammies of Christmas Eve

The excitement my kids feel waiting for Christmas to get here

Christmas break (from School)

Here are some of our traditions:

*Put up the tree the weekend after thanksgiving

*Daddy puts up the tree and straightens out the branches (I

try not to be home when he does it because he takes way too long)

*The kids put all the ornaments they want on the tree and I freak out

because the ornaments they choose are not the desinated ones so I suggest the kids have their own tree and we are all happy

*I decorate the tree exactly the way I want it even though I know it

will be rearranged thoughout the holiday

*Our advent calendar

* the kids put 4 treats in each cup and eat one everyday

*Writing a letter to santa

*they are very cute letters that will be scrapbooked

*Sitting on Santa's lap

* I protest this one every year but my mom always insists we do it. So,this year instead of going to the mall we went to Wal-mart. They were offering free pictures so I decided it might be worth it. It wasn't!!! Santa was 25 minutes late and reminded me of the Santa in the movie Christmas Story. The picture is soo funny. It has the book isle of Wal-mart in the background and...... a shopping cart with a bag of dog food in it. NO I am not kidding! If my scanner worked on my copier I would put the picture in this post but it doesn't work so just imagine how funny it might look!

This year we are starting two new traditions. This year we are just doing Christmas morning with our own family, no one else. I am sooo excited about it. The other thing we are doing on Christmas is NO fancy meals. I don't like cooking very much and every year I end up missing some of the joy of Christmas because I am cooking a fancy breakfast and dinner. I am not doing that this year. In fact, Santa is bringing my kids a box of cookie crisp cereal (my kids' favorite) and that is what we are having for breakfast. For dinner we are having left over smoked turkey and whatever else we have leftover from Christmas Eve. I think this will make a huge difference for me this year--- I will post about it after it's all over of course!!!

It's hard to let go

Yesterday it was walk to school day and my kids wanted to ride their bikes. We did and it wasn't enjoyable for Abbey, Kyra or me. However Trevor loved it. He got to go to school earlier and got to play soccer with his friends. After school he didn't even wait for me and just rode home. He is getting to the age (he's 10) where he doesn't need my so much anymore, SAD!

I am glad he is independent but he is my baby only because he is my first child. It is really hard to let him go. Someone please push the stop or pause button so my kids stop growing up. I am scared for them in that evil world. Trevor goes to middle school next year so I know I have to let go but it is hard!

Fall Break

My kids' version of clean

My version of clean

I figured out why they call this weekend (UEA) fall break. It is because when the kids are home this long, my house FALLS apart. Bobby and I nicely asked the kids to clean it today and this sadly is their version of clean. I have been making the joke all week that all my family members (even and especially Bobby) suffer from nonpickupitis! NO one but me ever picks up anything- doesn't it bother them? Apparently not! Anyway, I sent everyone to the movies and I cleaned the room my way. Now I can watch general conference in a peaceful clean room! Believe me it will stay this way too at least until Sunday!

AUGUST 2009

There are so many pictures here but that is because it was probably the funnest thing we did this summer. We went Friday, Saturday , Sunday and Monday to Bobby's parents property. We went with the Barlows. You might think that you saw the Strickland children in some our pictures and yes we took them too. They only stayed until sunday when their parents came and picked them up. We did a lot of fun things. Bobby killed a bird, we rode the jeeps, we swam in the river, we fished at Camp Barlett and went to Bloomington.

Boyd and Phyllis invited the Gibsons for a FHE evening at their cabin up Logan Canyon and they invited us. Jason asked Bobby to dress up as Nephi and that is why he wearing his bathrobe in this picture. The kids has a really good time. We had the yummiest homemade corndogs made by Sister Smart-we hope they invite us back just for those! I took the cherries from the Gray's tree and made homemade pie filling and cheesecake- it was also very yummy!

We love the Cache County Fair. The kids love the animals and the rides (we were very mean parents and didn't let them ride this year). I love the smells of the fair and I LOVE to people watch and this is truly one of the best places to do it! We went with Wendy and Craig and it was really fun to go with them. I will see if I can get pictures from FB that Wendy took.

We went fishing many times but this trip was to first dam. I liked fishing here because the water was so clear. I don't fish so looking down into the water is one of my past times. The water at Cutler Marsh and Newton Dam was disgusting so this was refreshing. We could see 1 foot fish down close to the bottom. It was awesome except for the fact that we couldn't catch one of them.

I am always surprised how fast school starts! It seems like the summer flys by and before you know it is over! My kids were excited to start school though, so that is good. Trevor is 10 and in 5th grade. His teacher is Mrs. Sheele. Abbey is 9 and has Mrs. Bagley. Kyra is 7 and has Mrs. Alder.

I can't believe I am finally doing it!

For two years or more, I have wanted to teach a certain scrapbook class. I am finally doing it! The other day I was in Hobby Lobby (getting supplies for all those cards I just made), and I saw a poster saying Hobby Lobby wanted teachers for classes. I was so excited to get more info. I called and I am officially going to teach. The class is a scrapbooking 101 class. This is a class for beginners. This is a class for someone who has never scrapbooked before and wants to learn. I will teach them all the basic stuff that is so important. I think people don't scrapbook because it is too overwhelming and they don't know where to start! That is what I am here for. I just hope people are interested. I am making the poster today (I will post a picture when I am done). The great thing is that if this class doesn't pan out I can teach a card making class or a class on the cricut! The other great thing is that Hobby Lobby doesn't charge me anything for this class, I keep all profits! FINALLY!!! YEAH! Wish me luck! P.S. I know I spelled scrapbook wrong but I went into the store and fixed it!

ALL DONE!

I did it! I didn't make 20 sets of cards, I made 26 sets. Each is with it's own box and pen. I started this morning on my last 12 sets. I started going through my cards and ended up finding enough stuff to make 26 sets. I am so tired of making cards I could die! I hope it all worth it in the end. P.S. Whatever I don't sell is up from grabs. Whatever is left is going on ebay!
